NBI probes alleged Phisgoc irregularities in 2019 SEA Games funding
The National Bureau of Investigation is recommending charges against five members of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) board of trustees for alleged irregularities in the 2019 SEA Games, with NBI Director Melvin Matibag indicating Senator Alan Peter Cayetano may also face charges for misrepresenting his authority as chairman. The investigation has uncovered P6.7 billion in government funding to Phisgoc and discovered that the P55-million SEA Games cauldron was contracted to different contractors, suggesting significant financial improprieties requiring further documentary review.
