House bill proposes VAT exemption for essential medicines

A House bill has been filed to exempt all essential medicines from the 12-percent value-added tax (VAT) to reduce financial burden on Filipinos and support the government's responsibility to protect and promote the right to health. The bill, House Bill No. 9564, was filed by ACT Rep. Antonio Tinio and other lawmakers seeking tax relief for essential medicine purchases.
