Ground subsidence and cracks alert in Toboso, Negros Occidental

The Negros Occidental Provincial Environment Management Office has advised residents of Barangay General Luna in Toboso town to remain vigilant after new ground cracks and widening subsidence were observed in two communities during a follow-up assessment on March 10-11. The hazard level is provisionally assessed as high, with preliminary observations suggesting karst-related ground subsidence, pending official geohazard assessment from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau.
